Bloomsburg Duals - Women

BLOOMSBURG - The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team picked up two wins on the first day of the Bloomsburg Duals. In their first match of the day, the Huskies defeated Bryant College by a score of 8-1 and in their second match they downed Bentley College 5-0.

Against Bryant, Bloomsburg swept the doubles matches before winning five out of the six singles matches en route to an 8-1 victory. Katie Hasyn (Lansdale/(North Penn) dropped only five games in the match, picking up a 6-2, 6-1 win at number three singles and partnering with Tracy Nissenbaum (Allentown/William Allen) to win at number two doubles 8-2.

Against Bentley, the Huskies took the best-of-five match by sweeping doubles and winning the first two singles matches before play was halted. At number two singles, Emily Murphy (Worcester/Methacton) was a 6-4, 6-4 winner.

In other action at the BU Duals, Slippery Rock downed Queens College 5-0 and defeated Concordia College 5-1. Bentley defeated Concordia College 6-3.

The Bloomsburg Duals will resume tomorrow with Bloomsburg/Concordia and Queens/Bryant kicking off the action with 10:00 a.m. matches.
